It’s been three months since I have gone shopping somewhere other than a grocery store, so what does this girl do when she is told she can walk without a crutch? Go shopping! I decided to take advantage of not being in Baton Rouge and headed over to REI. While I was ok for a good bit, things went south after about a half an hour. Luckily, I had already picked out a couple great finds off the clearance rack. Headed home to ice and prop up my leg and the pain promptly subsided. Good to know my limits.
After cheering on my nieces at their swim meet today, my nephew and I took a walk around my parents’ neighborhood. The thing about their neighborhood is that there is not a single flat road in sight. We walked for about 20 minutes and close to three quarters of a mile of ups and downs. Although it was slow, it was a great first walk outside. Crenshaw, who is five and a half, and I had a great time chatting and looking at everything in sight including the cracks in the road, the thing that looked like a taco and everything in the sky. We saw the Moon, Orion and Jupiter. The best quote of the walk was when Crenshaw told me about his love for carrots because they help him with his “poopy problem.” Love that boy!!! What I realized as I walked along with my favorite nephew is that I have a chance to take things a little bit slower than I am used to, a pace that is much better for chatting and catching up and talking about life, dreams and the future…and I am so looking forward to doing it with many of you!
This is AWESOME! So happy for you.
